There are some headlines that you just don’t expect you’ll ever have to write.
As we’re sure you’re aware, the Dublin Pride parade took place on Saturday 29 June, and thousands took part in what looked like an incredible day of festivities.
The whole thing kicked off at Parnell Square, leaving from the Garden of Remembrance towards O’Connell Street, Eden Quay and Liberty Hall before crossing the River Liffey en route to a free outdoor event at Merrion Square.
All in all, a great day.
And among the thousands who took part, one man has stood out as one of the major highlights, and that is Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan.
Yep, you read that correctly alright.
The 55-year-old threw back the years and danced through the streets of Dublin, rainblow flag in hand. He was also barefoot, which makes the entire thing about a hundred times better, if you ask us.

He’s really giving it a go in fairness to him. Addressing the whole barefoot thing, Mr Ryan said that he “had to ditch” his shoes, as it was too “hard to dance in Birkinstocks.”
We won’t argue with his logic, especially with moves like that.
