Trump, as you can imagine, is not too pleased with this news.

Speaker of the House in the US Nancy Pelosi has said that the House of Representatives is moving forward with articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

In an announcement made on Thursday morning (local time), Pelosi said that Trump has “abused his power for his own personal political benefit at the expense of our national security.”

“Today, I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment,” she said.

Trump has already responded to the news on Twitter, saying: “The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House. They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country. But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy. Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial.”

His campaign manager has also released a statement in response to Pelosi’s comments, which is extremely similar to Trump’s tweet.

Meanwhile, favourite to be the Democratic candidate in 2020 Joe Biden has targeted Trump in a new ad that describes him as “dangerously incompetent”.

Trump’s impeachment hearing is in relation to a phone call earlier this year between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
