WATCH: Barack Obama surprises Chicago locals working a food bank

Rudi Kinsella

What a man.

Today, 22 November, marks the holiday of Thanksgiving in the United States of America.

But ahead of the national holiday, food banks throughout the country prepared food for the less fortunate so they could enjoy Thanksgiving meals.

And one food bank in Chicago had a particularly special visitor.

None other than Barack Obama showed up to lend a helping hand to the people at the Chicago Food Depository with preparing the meals.

Donning a Chicago White Sox hat, the former President of America threw on a pair of gloves and got down to business with the rest of the workers.

In the video, Obama encounters two little girls who are volunteering and tells them, “You guys are doing such a great job helping out. I’m really proud of you.”

Have a look for yourself here:

Obama posted the video on Twitter, while also wishing all Americans a Happy Thanksgiving, saying: “I am grateful for the next generation of leaders — the young people who are tolerant, creative, idealistic and doing the work to create the world as it should be. Who understand that hope requires action. From the Obama family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.”
