QUIZ: Pat Gibson’s questions on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Alan Loughnane

Pat Gibson

Only one Irish man has won the million. How can you do with his questions?

The world has changed a lot, so it’s difficult to understand just how much of a phenomenon Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was when it arrived on ITV in 1998.

You had a chance to win £1 million. That’s a lot of money even to this day, you can imagine how much that was 22 years ago.

To win the top prize, all you had to do was answer 15 consecutive questions correctly and you had three lifelines to help you along the way.

As the questions advanced, the difficulty of the questions grew, as did the money on offer.

Answering 15 questions correctly doesn’t seem that bad, especially considering they were multiple choice but very few people to this day have made it all the way to the end and answered the 15th question correctly to take home the top prize.

In fact, just five people have managed the feat with the last winner coming all the way back to 2006.

But let’s go back two years before that when Pat Gibson, a software engineer from Galway, became the first and only Irish man to go all the way and win the top prize.

Gibson, then an avid quizzer and now a quizzing world champion, did so with remarkable ease and poise.

Do you think you can answer all of the questions from his £1 million run?

We have all 15 questions along with the possible answers laid out below. We’ve even added in the life lines as well.
