He will never be able to use this talent in an actual game, but Paddy Jackson nailing a penalty from the corner flag is a pretty spectacular sight nonetheless.

Everyone knew that the 20-year old out-half had talent, but up until this week, few knew that he had this in his locker as he took time out from preparing for Ulster’s clash with Castres to show that not only soccer players could score direct from a corner (see video above).

As we said, Jackson will never be able to use this in an actual game, but he can add it as yet another string to his bow alongside being a tremendously talented fly-half and bearing more than a slight resemblance to Eoin McLove of Father Ted fame.

It’s the best, or at least the most unusual, strike of a rugby ball we’ve seen since an outrageous converted penalty from Dan Carter a few years back which you can see in the video below.

Whose kick was better? We’ll side with Jackson on this score but have another look at both and feel free to disagree with us in the comments box.
