While the IRFU were hoping that Jonny Sexton’s decision to move abroad would not become a trend, speculation today would suggest Stephen Ferris is also considering his options.

The Ulster back rower has been plagued again this season with injury, missing the vast majority of the campaign thus far.
More importantly, his IRFU contract is up on June 30th and there have been a number of reports today are linking Ferris with a move to Japan.
The BBC has reported that a number of overseas clubs are interested in the former Lions player, including an unnamed club from Japan, though no formal negotiations have taken place as of yet.
Japan has been a popular destination for New Zealand players, with Sonny Bill Williams and Jerome Kaino just some of a whole host of players who have spent time – often a very short time- in the lucrative Japanese Top League, while England international James Haskell has also spent time in the land of the rising sun.
While we hope the bulldozing back rower makes a speedy return from injury, we just hope he won’t be another player to head for the exit door.
