God Knows explains how Limerick’s love of Tupac and Bob Marley influences music

Limerick loves these two guys…

This week on Ireland Unfiltered, rapper God Knows was the guest chatting with Dion Fanning.

Originally from Zimbabwe but living in Ireland since 2001, the Limerick-based rapper thinks Limerick is a hub for rap and hip hop music because of the city’s love of two musical icons.

He explained how Limerick’s love of Tupac Shakur and Bob Marley means that he can push music to places others may not consider.

“In Limerick there’s two music heroes bigger than anybody else and that’s Tupac Shakur and Bob Marley,” he said.

“I don’t know how it ended up being that but it is what it is. You definitely will get loads of kids regardless of age, they love Pac and they love Marley.

“And that gives us a great opportunity as a rapper because, you know, it’s also one of my favourite artists of all time, so, you know, then that gives us an opportunity in Limerick to actually really power on into places that many people wouldn’t think of doing music, the way we do anyway.”
