Does your couch have a permanent, you-sized groove in it from overuse?

If so, it may be time to get outside and start embracing life. There’s nothing like shaking out the cobwebs with an old-fashioned physical challenge. You might even be surprised at how much you enjoy it.

Luckily, we live on an island that’s perfectly set up to cater for adventurous activities. Here’s a list of some of the best things that you can do to test your mettle and give you an amazing experience to remember.

Coasteering

Coasteering combines climbing, rock scrambling, swimming and cliff jumping so it’s a great way to test your limits while seeing the Irish coastline in a whole new way.

It’s an intensive workout and you’ll end up using muscles that you never realised you had. Adventure West has weekend courses if you do want to take the plunge.

Bushcraft

If you’ve always fancied yourself as a young Ray Mears or a budding Bear Grylls, this is the activity for you. Bushcraft teaches skills like how start a fire, use essential tools, discover what nature has to offer, and create a shelter.

The Living Wilderness Bushcraft School provides weekend courses that will test your limits and give you the essential tools to survive in the wild. Which might come in handy if the Trump presidency goes as badly as some people are suggesting!

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is not for the fainthearted or the physically frail. It’s a full-on challenge that combines aspects of wakeboarding, surfing, paragliding and snowboarding into one extreme sport.

If you fancy the look of it, the people at Kitesurf Ireland cater for everyone from beginners up. This is one hell of a way to spend your weekend if you think you’re up to the challenge! Check out Kitesurf Ireland to see how to get involved.

Rock climbing

Rock climbing and bouldering are growing sports and Ireland is blessed with fantastic natural resources when it comes to climbing. There are some amazing rock climbing spaces throughout the country to suit every skill level.

Rock climbing is another sport that will test your coordination, strength and agility. You can even start on indoor walls if you want to try it out before scaling a mountain. It’s another great way to get a complete workout while trying something new.

Sea kayaking

Sea kayaking may look easy but it will test you. Having said that, it’s also a brilliant way to see the coast from a different perspective and to enjoy a great day on the water.

You can explore the coastline, check out areas you couldn’t visit on foot and test your endurance in the process. Not a bad way to spend a weekend!

If you like taking photos then you will love the new Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5. They are also water and dust resistant, which makes them ideal for an active lifestyle.

The new Galaxy A series combines beautiful design, an enhanced camera, longer lasting battery life and lots of other features that will make your life (and photo-taking) a lot easier.
