A dummies betting guide to the biggest fight night of the year: Conor McGregor vs Chad Mendes

Be the big winner at UFC 189

JOE

Don’t know who to put your money on for UFC 189? Fear not, we’ve got you covered.

The Patriotic Punt

Do you have faith in the Irish fighters repeating that magical night in Dublin and completing a clean sweep?

Then you’re confident in landing a decent chunk of change. Stick a €10 accumulator on Neil Seery @20/21, Cathal Pendred @4/5, Gunnar Nelson @7/5 and Conor McGregor 10/19 all to win and you’ll get a return of €128.70.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

Fancy the boring option? Neil Seery has gone to the judges scorecards in all of his fights in the UFC.

The last time Robbie Lawlor and Rory MacDonald threw down it also went the distance. A €10 double bet on Seery vs Smolka to go three rounds @20/31 + the co-main to go the full five @7/2 pays out €74.03.

The Underdog Shot

At the top of the prelims we have one hell of a match up between Matt Brown and Tim Means.

The number-five ranked welterweight Brown is a good favourite but is coming into this one off of back-to-back losses. Admittedly, these came against champion Robbie Lawler and the man he took the belt from Johnny Hendricks, but a loss is still a loss.

Means, on the other hand is riding a four-fight winning streak and has been excellent since making his return to 170 pounds.

He also has a two-inch height advantage and is arguably better defensively than Brown. A cheeky bet on an upset victory for Means @31/20 might not be the worst shout.
