With all the excitement of the UFC over the last month or so, it is easy to forget that Cage Warriors will be returning to Ireland on the August 16 with a top-notch bill.
Cage Warriors 70 (CWFC) will take place in the Helix next weekend and and having brought you this fantastic montage of CWFC last month, there are plenty of good fights on offer to sate your MMA lust.
Headlining the event will be Donegal lightweight Joseph Duffy who returns to the MMA world following a stint at pro-boxing, holding an impressive 7-0 boxing record. Duffy is also known as the last man to beat Conor McGregor (video below) having fought and submitted the Dubliner back in 2010. The Donegal man holds an MMA record of 10-1, and he takes on Frenchman Damien Lapilus (9-3-1) in what is sure to be a bruising encounter.
The co-main event on the night involves Ireland’s own Phillip Mulpeter (7-4) who takes on English fighter Jake Bostwick (15-8). Bostwick will be a stern test for the Laois man having recently turned around his slightly stumbling career with a seven-fight win streak. Mulpeter is 2-2 since joining Cage Warriors and he will be hoping to improve on his inauspicious start in the franchise. A morale boosting TKO against Aldric Cassata will give him confidence against the much more experienced Bostwick.
Paul ‘Redser’ Redmond is also in action on the night but as of yet is without a challenger with his scheduled opponent Michael Doyle having to pull out through injury.
UPDATE: Redmond will now fight Alexis Savvidis (8-1) from Greece.
