Forget your Batman’s and Superman’s, JOE is going out to buy Josh Shaw pyjamas.

University of Southern California defensive back Josh Shaw is the hero of the internet and his family after leaping from a second floor balcony onto concrete to save his nephew from drowning in a swimming pool.

According to a report on the USCTrojans website, Shaw had been named as team captain at a function on Saturday and it was later that night the incident at the pool occurred.

Shaw landed painfully on the hard concrete after his brave leap but was able to crawl to the pool and pull his nephew from the water. His relative is said to be physically okay, but has been left traumatised by the incident.

Shaw was attending a family gathering when the near drowning happened leaving the football star with two very serious ankle sprains which may have put his career into jeopardy.

It must be said that if this act of bravery and selflessness’ is anything to go buy, then USC have selected a wonderful team captain.

Despite his future now being in doubt, the player was adamant that he did not regret his decision and that he would have done it for anyone. *JOE man-crush alert*

“I would do it again for whatever kid it was, it did not have to be my nephew,” Shaw said to USCTrojans.  “My ankles really hurt, but I am lucky to be surrounded by the best trainers and doctors in the world.  I am taking my rehab one day at a time, and I hope to be back on the field as soon as possible.”

Shaw is a hero in JOE’s eyes and we are very hopeful that he will make a full recovery from his injuries and enjoy a long career at the top of his game; god knows he deserves it…
