And the IRPA Try of the Year goes to… Francois Hougaard and South Africa with this beauty

We just hope Tommy Bowe wins it one day so we can hear Ryle Nugent exclaiming "Tommy Bowwwwe!"

We may have made them look ordinary, but the South Africans still did some amazing things this year.

The IRPA Try of the Year has been awarded to South African scrum-half Francois Hougaard for this great length of the field team try.

South Africa made history that day as they ended the All Black win streak that had stretched all the way back to the year before and it seemed destined to continue for another while at least.

South Africa turned over the ball in their own 22 and, rather than kicking for safety, they embarked on a bold run out of defence with young fly-half Handré Pollard leading the charge.

Following a clever dink through by Jean de Villiers and some good offloading, Hougaard was on hand to receive the final pass and run the ball in under the posts.

Previous winners of the accolade include Brian O’Driscoll all the way back in 2008, the stunning Radike Samo run from half-way in 2011, and that guy we just love to not-love-so-much, Chris Ashton in 2010.
