Andy Reid joins the 'Mayo for Sam' bandwagon and a holy inappropriate subs bench in Straffan
At least one Dub reckons this is Mayo’s year and some unusual pitch side furniture at a Kildare GAA club.
After the demolition job that Mayo inflicted on All-Ireland champions Donegal on Sunday, space on the Mayo bandwagon is harder to find than an All-Ireland winner’s medal in Castlebar.
But we think the Mayo massive will make room for Irish soccer player Andy Reid. The Dubliner becomes the latest in a very long line of folks to embrace the 'Mayo for Sam' campaign this summer.

Based on what we saw at the weekend, the Nottingham Forest man may well have joined a winning team.
Prayer welfare
We know times are hard in the world of GAA but what popped up on the sideline at a junior match in Straffan yesterday has to be a first. A bench from a church was called into service for the subs and the scene was snapped by Evening Herald racing journo Niall Cronin.
You gotta love the church bench being used for the subs at the junior championship... #gaa #juniorc pic.twitter.com/GtoiG7Hudo

A bit like Kildare’s senior footballers, there a lot done, but more to pew... (sorry, couldn’t resist it).
