The Tribesmen know who will be leading them next year…

Anthony Cunningham has been confirmed as Galway hurling boss for another two years after a county board meeting last night.

Cunningham has been in charge of Galway for the past three seasons and despite a stunning debut season where Galway won the Leinster Championship and reached the All-Ireland final, Galway have been somewhat indifferent in the championship ever since.

A disappointing heavy defeat to Tipperary saw them exit the championship in the qualifiers this year while it was a similar story last year against Clare.

In the face of rumours that Anthony Daly was keen on the job, Cunningham will remain in the role with a review to take place at the end of the season and he will be aided by his backroom team of Pat Malone, Damien Curley and Eugene Cloonan.

At the same meeting last night, two-time All-Ireland winner Kevin Walsh was appointed as Galway football manager for the forthcoming season.

Walsh has previous management experience with Sligo as well as representing Galway in midfield during their All-Ireland final wins in 1998 and 2001.
