Audio: In case you missed the brilliant Kanye West/Shane Curran ‘Bound 2 Roscommon’ remix by Second Captains this week

“What a day for Roscommon.”

One sportsman in his forties has been the subject of an awful lot of tributes this week, with peers and commentators from all over lining up to pay their respects to a man who is one of a kind, who has had a career spanning more than 20 years and is still able to cut it with fellas half his age.

Yes, it might have been a difficult week on a personal level for St.Brigid’s and Roscommon stalwart Shane Curran after Brigid’s surrendered their Connacht title to Castlebar at Hyde Park on Sunday, but it didn’t stop praise rolling in for the man known as ‘Cake’ after a great performance and a typically adventurous outfield cameo that unfortunately ended in quite painful circumstances.

There was no better tribute paid to Curran than the crew at Second Captains, who had Cake as a guest on the show earlier this week.

The lads pre-empted that appearance with a typically brilliant mix featuring soundbytes from Curran and local GAA commentators and excerpts from ‘Bound 2’, the latest release by Kanye West which has attracted ridicule for the bizarre video with missus Kim Kardashian that went with it.

Unfortunately, Curran’s playing days may have come to an end on Sunday, but if he does hang up the boots he’s left us with an awful lot of memories, not least his typically dramatic exit from the fray last Sunday.
