We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; local GAA commentary is just great, especially on momentous moments like this.
Yesterday truly was a memorable day for everyone associated with Mount Leinster Rangers, as the Carlow club upset the odds to defeat Wexford giants Oulart the Ballagh to claim their first ever Leinster title and the first ever Leinster hurling title for the county of Carlow.
If you happened to see the game or the highlights on the news you will know how much it meant to the Mount Leinster players, management and fans but nothing sums up its impact quite like the commentary of Brendan Hennessy on KCLR (Kilkenny Carlow local radio) FM yesterday afternoon.
We’ve included a large snippet of Hennessy’s commentary below but skip ahead to 16:30 for his account of the dramatic finish to the game and his unashamedly biased reaction to one of the biggest results in club GAA for many a year, particularly the impromptu ‘Wohoo’ after 17:39.
On a day like yesterday, you really can’t bate the GAA, not even with a large stick.
