Everybody is rightly talking about Rob Heffernan following his victory at the World Championships yesterday and this tribute to their fellow Cork man from the lads at Big Red Bench on Red FM is very good indeed.
Heffernan became only the third Irish athlete to win a gold medal at the World Championships when coasting home in the 50km walk in Moscow yesterday; as has been said quite repeatedly since, sure he walked away with it, it was a stroll in the park etc.
Heffernan was deservedly lauded widely and often on television and radio yesterday, as he will again when he picks up his gold medal in the Luzhniki Stadium later on today.
The lads at Big Red Bench on Red FM put together their own tribute (listen above) to their fellow Corkonian, appropriately using the Rocky theme considering that Heffernan was taking on and subsequently defeating the Russians in their own backyard. Ivan Drago me arse!
Nice work lads.
Thanks to the lads at Big Red Bench for sending this one onto us
