Both James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld tumbled out of the Darts Grand Prix at Citywest last night.
We expected the format of the Darts Grand Prix to cause some problems and last night the big names suffered on the Citywest stage.
The biggest casualty was two-time Grand Prix champion and number three seed James Wade. The Machine was clearly not at his best but he went into a one set lead on Colin Osbourne and took the first two legs of the second, putting himself one leg away from victory.
Sadly Wade then lost his way as Osborne won the next six legs to sensationally steal the match and dump one of the pre-tournament favourites out of the competition.
Wade wasn’t the only big name to fall as Raymond van Barneveld also bowed out at the first hurdle. The Dutchman had been in exceptional form in Germany before coming to Dublin so hopes were high that he could do well in the Grand Prix.
Instead Ian White beat him 2-0, popping in finishes of 112, 132 and 144 in the process.
However, one big star did survive as world champion Adrian Lewis beat Richie Burnett 2-1.
