Rob Penney will have to plan until Christmas without Simon Zebo after a scan revealed he has a cracked bone in his left foot.

The winger picked up the injury in the disappointing defeat to Edinburgh at Murrayfield and there were varying reports as to how long he would be sidelined for.

It means that he will miss Munster’s next three Heineken Cup fixtures, including the crucial back to back fixtures with Perpignan in December, and also the Autumn internationals against Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.

The 23 year-old visited a specialist in Dublin yesterday and scans revealed the crack that will sideline him for approximately 10 weeks.

The game against Edinburgh has proven to be a costly one for Munster as aside from the defeat itself, Zebo joins Paddy Butler on the sidelines. The backrower is also out for up to 10 weeks after breaking his thumb on Saturday.
