BOD narrowly misses out on Six Nations Player of the Tournament award

Brian O’Driscoll only the second best player, are they bloody serious? Actually they’re probably right, England’s Mike Brown had quite the Six Nations in fairness.

Brian O’Driscoll only the second best player, are they bloody serious? Actually they’re probably right, England’s Mike Brown had quite the Six Nations in fairness.

Unfortunately, O’Driscoll won’t have an individual accolade to the add to the second Six Nations championship he picked up last weekend after Mike Brown topped a public poll of the best players in this season’s Six Nations.

34 per cent of over 68,000 people who voted opted for Brown as their top performer after the full-back scored four tries and was voted man of the match in three of England’s five games even if he went down a little in our estimation when he had the gall to confront BOD himself when England played Ireland at Twickenham. Who does he think he is?

As consolation for missing out on the top prize, Ireland had four players ranked in the top five, with O’Driscoll (28%) finishing in second ahead of Andrew Trimble (10%), Jonathan Sexton (5%) and Rob Kearney, all of whom had been included in a 16-man shortlist drawn up shortly after the tournament, with the public having 48 hours to respond.

Fair play to Brown on his award, although he is missing the Six Nations medal that will surely come as consolation to BOD for missing out on an award that would have been the icing on the cake after what was a pretty perfect international farewell last weekend.
