Bust a move.

Breakdancing is one of four additional sports expected to be included at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris along with surfing, sport climbing and skateboarding.

The International Olympic Committee have until December 2020 to decide whether it will be included, but the four aforementioned sports are all now officially in the running, after an announcement on Thursday.

Some of the proposed “sports” that were excluded from the Paris Games include chess, squash and billiard sports.

Harsh on squash, you’d have to say.

Breakdancing was in fact included in the Youth Olympics Buenos Aires back in 2018, so this news isn’t a complete shock.

It operated via a head-to-head format in the Youth Olympics, and if we’re being completely honest, it sounds fairly fun.

According to BBC, Tony Estanguet, a three-time canoeing Olympic champion and head of the Paris 2024 organising committee, said the inclusion of the new sports would make the Olympics “more urban” and “more artistic.”

This comes less than two days after we shared the news that lightsaber fighting became an official sport in France.

What a time to be alive. No sign of it being in the Olympics just yet though.
