Wow, we didn’t see this one coming.
Kerry legend Paul Galvin has come out of retirement and returned to training with the Kerry footballers.
After the news was tweeted by Tony Leen and John Fogarty of the Irish Examiner this evening, Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice confirmed Galvin’s return in a (very) brief statement, which read: “Paul Galvin has re-joined the Kerry Senior Football squad and resumed training this evening”.

@pgal10 back in the Kerry fold at 35. Unfinished business. Ready to give it another go with the Kingdom. Big gamble, but he likes the odds.

Galvin announced his retirement from the inter-county scene early last year after an illustrious career that included four All-Ireland titles, three All-Star awards and the Footballer of the Year award in 2009.
His return will come as another boost to Fitzmaurice, a close friend and brother-in-law of Galvin’s, who has already welcomed back Tommy Walsh to the fold and will welcome back Colm Cooper and Footballer of the Year James O’Donoghue in the near future.
Exciting times for Kerry fans.
