He refused to comment on either Fernando Torres or Petr Cech, however.

Brendan Rodgers says that Liverpool could delve into the January transfer market to lift their stuttering season, but refused to comment on whether or not he would bring for Reds hero Fernando Torres back to Anfield.

Torres is currently on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea, whom he joined from Liverpool in January 2011 with not much success.

The Reds have also been linked with Petr Cech, who has been demoted in favour of Thibaut Courtois at the West London club this season.

“If there is a possibility that we can strengthen in January, we will look at that,” Rodgers said.

“There will always be speculation, but I won’t comment on any players.”

Strikers Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert have managed to score just four goals between them this season, while Brad Jones has replaced Simon Mignolet in goal.

Jones has let in five goals from nine shots on target against both Manchester United and Arsenal, but has been backed by Rodgers.

“Brad is in the team at the moment and has done well,” Rodgers added. “He is consistent right the way through. You need your number two goalkeeper to be loyal and work well when he comes in.”
