Scratch that! Even if you've never played Junior B before because the fresh air gives you hives, you will at least appreciate the comedic genius of it. It's fair to say that there are certain times of the year when you can expect an amateur team to not be firing on all cylinders. After the Christmas break is one of them. The festive season doesn't end on the 25th of December. It stretches into January and often beyond. During this period it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things. The 'no better time to start back' adage doesn't always ring true when it comes to returning to training. Summer is another time of the year that can be the bane of your local manager's existence. People have really warmed to the concept of taking holidays during the warmer months, but nothing gold can stay. What goes to Tenerife on the lash, must come back. However, once you come back to Irish shores, the manager is going to want you back on the training ground. One goes on holiday for a good time and a break from the regular regime. It's an opportunity to cut loose and not worry about all those pesky responsibilities which may include maintaining an adequate level of fitness for your next club game. This manager gets it.
