Carl Froch’s commentary did not go down well with many fans watching McGregor v Mayweather

Neutral? Not really.

Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly neutral commentary from Carl Froch.

Thousands upon thousands of people on this side of the world stayed up into the wee small hours to watch Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather go head to head in Las Vegas.

Assuming they were watching the fight via *cough* legitimate means *cough*, the vast majority of people watching the fight here and in the UK will have done so on Sky Sports Box Office, who made it available for the decent price of €24.95 (compared to over $89 from Showtime in the US).

Many of those who did cough up that money subsequently found themselves a bit cheesed off at the commentary of Carl Froch, who didn’t really acknowledge the impact made by McGregor in the opening rounds in particular and appeared to go out of his way to express his admiration for Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

To be fair to Froch, his prediction that Mayweather would eventually take advantage of a tiring McGregor later in the fight was eventually proved correct, but there was something about his tone that stuck in the craw of many viewers.

Froch was even trending in Ireland at one point during proceedings and we don’t think it was for the right reasons; a combination of the early start and McGregor edging towards defeat probably didn’t help the mood of some of those who posted the comments below.
