Two things JOE loves: eating burgers and giving to worthwhile charities. Thankfully, we can combine both of these on October 18 as part of McHappy day.

McHappy Day celebrates 10 years of the Ronald McDonald House looking after families. Over the past 10-years 2,471 Irish families have used their facilities and, to celebrate, on October 18 McDonald’s will be donating €1 from every Big Mac sold in its 86 stores nationwide to the charity.

The House, which is located on the grounds of the Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, really does do wonderful work. Every night they provide care and support for 20 families whose children are seriously ill.

Leinster and Ireland rugby star and Board Member of RMHC, Shane Jennings, was at the launch of the campaign. He reiterated the important work the RMHC is doing.

He said: “Over the last ten years, the House has been a home away from home for families from around the country, giving them not only the accommodation they desperately need but also a support structure and a sense of normality during what are often very difficult times.”

He went on to add, “the House allows parents to recharge and focus on what’s important – being by their child’s side throughout their time in Hospital.”

This is a charity that JOE can definitely get behind and we intend on doing our part by eating as many Big Macs as we can handle.

Celebrate 10 years of the Ronald McDonald House with Shane Jennings by enjoying a Big Mac on McHappy Day, Saturday 18 October, or by donating directly in McDonald’s restaurants or at www.rmhc.ie.
