It seems that Chael Sonnen is not a very big LeBron James fan, as he called him ‘a dork’ and ‘a twat’, amongst a whole host of other things.
Chael Sonnen is known for saying plenty of outrageous things, but when he was on the Jim Rome Show last week and called LeBron James “a dork” it seemed to come a bit out of nowhere, even by his standards.
As a result, the lads at Bleacher Report managed to get him to sit down to an interview and Sonnen filled them in on exactly what his problem was with the NBA superstar.
Sonnen explained that “I would have liked to call him a twat [on the show], but they changed subjects”, and the whole beef dates back to when James got tickets from the UFC to his fight against Anderson Silva, and was less than pleasant to everyone at the event.
He refused to sign autographs for fans, “unless your cup size was later in the alphabet than he was able to learn” and while they were on the subject of the alphabet, James “thinks the letter purple comes after C”, according to Sonnen.
The UFC star also added that James tried to hit on his fiancee backstage, as well as refusing to sign an autograph for a kid in a wheelchair, and instead he “took the wheelchair, wheeled it out of the way and kept walking”.
Now, in this case it would be Sonnen’s word against LeBron’s and there’s been no confirmation that any of this information is correct, but they are big claims to make.
When asked about the possibility of him and LeBron facing off inside the octagon at UFC 200 (boy would we pay to see that) he said “He’d run away faster than his hairline. His hair went North, his talents went South, and his mother went West”. Nice.
We’d like to see James’ comeback, but it’s not a wise idea to antagonise a professional fighter we reckon, especially when you’re a terrible diver like LeBron is. This ain’t gonna cut it in the octagon.
