Champions League Love/Hate: The good and the bad from this week’s action

The best and the worst from this week's action

JOE

Matchday three served up some scintillating football and as per usual, there were some things we loved and some things we hated…

Liverpool were annihilated by Real Madrid, Manchester City showed they should never be trusted to walk your dog as they cant hold onto a lead, while Arsenal bored their way to a victory and Chelsea continue to make it all look all so easy.

Here is what we loved and what we hated from this week’s action.

LOVE – Didier Drogba being Didier Drogba

It was 885 days since Drogba last scored for Chelsea, so you may have thought the guy would be a tiny bit nervous stepping up to take a penalty. Not at all, because Didier Drogba doesn’t believe in nerves.

This was his 43rd Champions Leage goal. – that makes him eight in the all-time top scorers list. That’s one in ahead of the excellent Alessandro Del Piero, but several behind this guy…

LOVE – Cristiano Ronaldo scores his first goal at Anfield

He’s not half bad, is he?

He is only one behind record holder Raul Gonzalez in the all-time Champions League goalscroing charts now

HATE – Ah lads…

Well this is awkward…

Liverpool were three nil down when this fan thought it would be a good idea to get one-up on the Real Madrid players by reminding them that Liverpool have won five European Cups. He probably should have checked to see how many Real Madrid have won first though… in case your curious, it’s 10.

HATE – Empty stadiums

Manchester City let a two goal lead slip against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday and their captain Vincent Kompany was understandably upset. Not just because of the shoddy defending his side displayed, but also because CSKA Moscow fan’s were serving a ban which meant the game was played behind closed doors.

Kompany’s grievance was that the City fans did nothing wrong, so they shouldn’t have been punished and we sort of see we’re he is coming from.
