Champions League pic of the week: Anfield salutes the return of the Champions League in style

It’s been five long years for Liverpool fans.

Tuesday night’s clash with Ludogrets didn’t quite go as seamlessly as Liverpool fans might have expected, but thanks to some crazy defending by their Bulgarian opponents and a cool head from captain Steven Gerrard, the Reds marked their first game in the Champions League since 2009 with a win.

Before the game, the Anfield faithful did their best to create a cracking atmosphere for Brendan Rodgers’ men and one couldn’t help but be impressed by the tifo on display before kick-off, symbolising the club’s previous successes in the biggest competition of them all.
