Incredible, er, scenes…
The final whistle has long gone at the London Stadium, but the shame will last for West Ham for quite some time.
Chaotic scenes ultimately tarnished a match that began with fitting tributes to Bobby Moore on the first home game since the 25th anniversary of the club legend’s passing.
With Burnley two goals to the good, West Ham supporters began to throw missiles and invade the pitch to show their anger towards owners David Sullivan and David Gold, and the West Ham players.
West Ham captain Mark Noble struggled to remove fans on the pitch as hundreds of fans surrounded the director’s box to vent their frustration.

Burnley players including Ireland international Jeff Hendrick, meanwhile, took it upon themselves to protect children at the game, bringing them onto the substitutes bench as the carnage unfolded.

In the end, West Ham lost by three goals to nil on a day that should have been a celebration of the life and times of one of the game’s great players, but will be remembered for ugly scenes and further pain for a club seemingly on a downward spiral.
