We were tired even typing that headline, but hats off to Clare Conlon who had a day to remember…
Can you imagine winning an FAI Cup Final at the Aviva with your club, and then rushing off to Clane to play for your club in the Leinster Ladies GAA Football Final and winning that too? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Clare Conlon.
She played for Raheny United (pic above) as they defeated UCD Waves in the FAI Cup Final 2-1 after extra-time in the Aviva Stadium, and then she helped her GAA team, Sarsfields Mountmellick (pic below), to the Leinster Ladies football title with a 1-09 to 1-07 victory over Na Fianna of Dublin.
Clare was understandably elated and why wouldn’t she be? Here she is on the Twitter machine expressing the joy:
Wow what a day first winning the FAI Cup with @rahenyunited and then winning a Leinster Final with @sarsmtmellick#happyout
