The man knows how to sell a fight.
As UFC 229 draws ever closer, Conor McGregor made another memorable appearance on the Conan O’Brien show to promote his upcoming fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight title.
As you can see in the footage below, The Notorious was in cracking form as he indulged in his usual mix of smack talk, bravado and one liners.
After chatting about how he has no friends in the business, McGregor couldn’t help but laugh along with the reaction of the host and after being asked what he saw in Khabib’s eyes during that heated press conference, McGregor said: “His eyeballs turned to glass, the blood rushes from his body and sprints out of his arse”
Ever the entrepreneur, McGregor couldn’t help but promote his new whiskey and after raising a toast to the fight, McGregor said: “I’m two days away from the biggest fight of my life, so I’m only going to drink half the bottle!”
McGregor also elaborated on a marble statue of himself, a gift for his 30th birthday, that he keeps in his garage.
A Lithuanian sculptor made the statue and the Dubliner even got it shipped over to Ireland, but because it’s so big, he has nowhere else to put it aside from his garage.
As you may know, UFC stripped McGregor of his Lightweight title but he he refused to give the belt back because he still believes that he’s the rightful champion.
He’s looking forward to going back and taking what he believes is his.
O’Brien then switched the focus to Khabib and his favoured style of combat, wrestling.
McGregor was happy to chat about how his opponent wrestled bears since he was a kid, but the Irishman insisted that Khabib has never wrestled an Irish gorilla before.
The focus then switched to McGregor’s last fight against Floyd Mayweather.
The Notorious admits that Mayweather “beat me fair and square” but he also talked about his predisposition for “fighting from the back” against the boxer – something that the referee was heavily officiating during the fight, as per the rules of boxing.
