He swore he’d be a billionaire by the time he turns 35.

Conor McGregor is poised to increase his already considerable bank balance at the weekend when he takes on Khabib Nurmagomedov.

While the Dubliner claims that he’s not motivated by money in his latest bout, he gave a financial forecast at the UFC 229 press conference on Thursday night.

The entire conference was a shit show, you can read more about it here.

When asked about his earnings from the event, McGregor replied with some considerable numbers.

“We’re estimating around 3 to 3.5 milllion [ppv buys], I’d say I’ll close in around the $50 million mark,” McGregor said.

“For a mixed martial artist to make $50 million from a mixed martial arts bout, it’s quite breathtaking. I have to thank my management, Paradigm Sports Management. I’ve got to thank Dana White, I’ve got to thank Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank who schooled me in the game.

McGregor compared this to his first fight with Nate Diaz, where Diaz was on $20,000 to show and $20,000 more if he won the fight.

“The game has gone to so many new heights, so quickly,” McGregor said.

“And we’re all just trying to keep up and catch up. And it’s a great time to be involved in the sport for myself, for the fighters, for the promoters, for the managers, for the media in attendance, times are good. So let’s enjoy these momentous occasions.”
