Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor has a new opponent for UFC Boston in a few weeks...

Currently one of the most popular sportsmen in the country, dynamic UFC fighter and Crumlin native Conor McGregor will have a new opponent at UFC Fox Sports 1, after British fighter Andy Ogle was forced to pull out due to injury.

McGregor will now step into the Octagon with technically gifted striker Max Holloway – who holds a solid Mixed Martial Arts record of  9-2 – on August 16th in the sold out TD Garden arena.

Although Holloway is certainly a tough opponent, McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh is still extremely confident telling Severe MMA, “Holloway is good technical fighter but I don’t see him getting out of the first round.”

Kavanagh also reckons this one could be even more entertaining than the Ogle scuffle. “Stylistically this match up has more potential to be a real crowd pleaser as Holloway tends to strike more. He presents an interesting set of problems and also has a pretty good name State side so I believe he’s an excellent match up for Conor’s US debut.”

The event will be broadcast live by fledging cabler BT Sports who just announced a deal with prolific MMA broadcaster Setanta Sports.

JOE favourite Chael Sonnen is headlining the card, taking on the vicious, if inconsistent, Brazilian Shogun Rua.
