Conor McGregor reveals what was going through his mind when THAT UFC 200 photo was taken

Some photos are worth a thousand words.

When Conor McGregor was watching his old nemesis Jose Aldo take on Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, one photographer got a snap of him stood in the crowd, watching the fight like a hawk ready to swoop in and take on both competitors at once.

Speaking to the MMA Hour ahead of his upcoming rematch with Nate Diaz, McGregor has revealed what was going through his head as he intensely monitored Aldo’s comeback win.

When eminent MMA pundit Ariel Helwani put the question to him, McGregor responded.

“That’s my division, my belt. This Frankie kid and his whole team were talking all kinds of stuff, so I just wanted to stand and let them know ‘I’m here, let me see what the fuck you have. Let me see what both of you have.’”

“And at the end of the fight, Frankie can’t touch him and Aldo’s dancing around and playing it safe, and I’m saying ‘Fight, fucking fight.’”

McGregor made huge use of mind-games while preparing for his fight with Aldo before it was postponed, and did the same to Nate Diaz to less effect. The Notorious has been markedly quieter in the lead-up to UFC 200 – we won’t know whether that’s made a difference until he steps inside the Octagon.
