Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments about his Real Madrid teammates absolutely reek of smugness

He threw them under the bus.

Real Madrid are currently third in La Liga after slumping to another defeat at the hands of bitter local rivals Atletico at the Bernabeu this afternoon. The result means that Zidane’s side are nine points behind leaders Barcelona in the title race and Barca even have a game in hand over Los Blancos.

Antoine Griezmann’s strike was enough to give Atletico the three points and continue their stellar league record at the Bernabeu  in recent years as Real’s title bid is effectively over. After the game, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a bizarre interview where he insinuated that Real would probably be winning the league right now if all of his teammates possessed the levels of talent he has.

Granted, Ronaldo is a phenomenal athlete and he may be correct with these quotes but we reckon that they won’t sit well in the Bernabeu dressing room.

Here’s what he said, “We will not give in. When you don’t have your best players, it is hard to win. If you don’t have Karim, Pepe and Bale, it’s more complicated. I like to play with Karim, Bale, Marcelo. I’m not saying the others aren’t good players. For example, Danilo was the best player on the pitch today. If everyone was at my level, maybe we would be leaders.”
