WATCH: Darren Randolph’s magnificent double save keeps Ireland in the game

Heart. In. Mouth.

Ireland can thank their lucky stars and their ‘keeper, Darren Randolph, that they’re still in this game after his fantastic double save from a Denmark attack just a few minutes after the opening ten.

A lovely chipped ball was played into the Ireland penalty box from just inside our half and with a volley, Larsen fired the ball at Randolph from his near post.

To be fair, for a wing-back it was some strike by Larsen, taking one big touch before hitting the ball with his laces but thankfully Randolph did enough to see it out.

He got his gloves to the ball with a diving save as the ball was going across the face of his goal but he had no time to congratulate himself as the ball rebounded to Cornelius.

Cornelius was just outside the six-yard box when he connected with the ball, it looked as though we were going to concede an early goal but not on Randolph’s watch.

He sprung up from his initial save, legged it across the goal and dived again to smother Denmark’s second successive shot, and as he was hitting the deck, his glove remained firmly wrapped around that ball to make sure that there would be no third-time lucky shot from the Danes.

Darren Randolph, take a bow.
