The incident is believed to have happened on Sunday night.

Irish international midfielder Darron Gibson has been charged with drink-driving after allegedly crashing into a cyclist and subsequently colliding with a petrol pump at a petrol station.

Gibson was detained by police after the incident occurred in Altrincham, Cheshire on Sunday night and is accused of driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

Gibson was driving a black Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo near his home when the incident occurred on Sunday night and he is now due to appear before Trafford Magistrates’ Court on 1 September.

Commenting on Gibson’s charge, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “This is in relation to an incident on Sunday August 16 where police were called to reports that a car had collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford, and failed to stop before pulling into a petrol station on nearby Dunham Road and colliding with a pump.”
