Clare hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has told the
Clare Champion newspaper that he will not talk to them in their journalist, Peter O'Connell, is at any pre-match or post-match match press briefing.
The Irish Examiner are reporting that Davy wrote a letter to the paper this week outlining the above following an heated incident between himself and O'Connell after Davy accused the journalist of "trying to destroy Clare hurling and succeeding".
The incident happened after the Banner's draw with Wexford on Saturday evening and O'Connell explained the situation on
Second Captains Championship on RTE on Sunday: "Now, he was being held back by somebody – I don’t know who it was because it just all happened so fast – and he was looking quite agitated to put it mildly and pointing and gesticulating and he had quite a bit to say, much of which I can’t repeat."
