Dundalk’s Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle included in provisional Ireland squad for Austria clash

Conor Heneghan

A big day for the Airtricity League Champions.

Dundalk duo Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle have been included in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifier with Austria this month.

The form of Horgan in particular this season has prompted calls for his inclusion in the national squad and both he and defender Andy Boyle have been delivered a huge confidence boost ahead of Dundalk’s Europa League clash with Zenit St. Petersburg later this week.

The big absentee from the squad is Southampton striker Shane Long, with manager Martin O’Neill confirming he will definitely miss what is a crucial clash in Vienna on November 12.

Everton’s James McCarthy, meanwhile, is considered a doubt for the game, but he has been included in the provisional squad.
