Premier League giants considering €100m bid for Evan Ferguson

This could be a risky move for player and club.

Evan Ferguson has quickly became one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League, and now one of the top teams are weighing up a €100m bid for the Irishman.

Ferguson broke onto the scene last year for Brighton, despite only being 18 years old, the striker was scoring regularly and mixing it with the best defenders in the game.

His physical strength, stature, and height, means that he has adapted to the top level such quicker than other players of a similar age, and clubs are willing to bet that he will only get better with time.

Chelsea are one of the biggest teams in the PL in terms of their size, financial backing and success record, however, in recent years, the London club have been badly struggling.

Despite spending considerably more than any other team in the league, Mauricio Pochettino’s team are very inconsistent, and are really struggling when it comes to scoring goals, with fans begging for a proper striker.

They have spent money on big names who have flopped like Timo Werner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Romelu Lukaku, all strikers who came with massive reputations, but all failed to deliver and have since left the club.

One of the reasons why Ferguson might be less of a gamble, is his age profile, because at just 19 years old, he could play for Chelsea for the next decade and still only be in his 20s, which means they are likely to get a huge return out of him.

However, it is massive price tag on someone who is still very raw and new to the top level, and there have been countless examples of young stars getting big money moves too early in their careers, just for it to backfire for both club and player.

The Republic of Ireland international attracted interest last summer from Manchester United and Tottenham, who were linked with a move for him to replace Harry Kane.
