Not one, not two but three Brazilian defenders made the team…

Earlier this week we were lauding the smarts of FIFA.com users who correctly chose James Rodriguez’ goal against Uruguay as the best of World Cup 2014.

Today, we shake our heads in dismay at the self-same voters, who have picked a team of the tournament with a few head scratching inclusions.

The most obvious problem is the inclusion of three Brazilian defenders. While we can give Thiago Silva a pass as he missed the 7-1 drubbing to Germany, there is no way that David Luiz and Marcelo should be in a team of the tournament.

The other glaring omission is Dutch dynamo Arjen Robben, but the rather dislikeable winger is always going to struggle in anything where the public have a vote.

The rest is hard to argue with, with three Germans, plus coach Jogi Loew, making it, alongside Messi and Di Maria for Argentina, Neymar and the aforementioned Rodriguez.
