For anyone wondering what the hell is going on here, the Donegal side’s social media team are merely copying (and pasting) the example set by Leo Sherlock of TheLiberal.ie on Thursday.
Sherlock’s apology for The Liberal’s unauthorised use of photographs from Independent News & Media, and for plagiarising the work of CCC Nuacht – the courts news agency – was widely criticised on Thursday for being written in a light pink font and squirrelled away from the site’s homepage.
The apology was also posted in the form of an image so it would not be searchable on Google, something neither CCC Nuacht nor Independent Newspapers are said to be particularly happy about, given the terms of their settlement with Sherlock.
The proceedings against Sherlock remain before the court and the founder of The Liberal is due back in front of Ardee District Court on 11 September, when it will reportedly be decided whether or not he has met the terms of his settlement with both INM and CCC Nuacht.
