The Dutchman is open to taking over if Brendan Rodgers is sacked.

Frank de Boer is open to taking over the manager’s job at Liverpool if Brendan Rodgers ends up getting the sack, according to his twin brother Ronald.

Liverpool face Championship leaders Bournemouth in the League Cup quarter-final this evening having exited the Champions League and lost to Manchester United in the last eight days.

Should the Reds lose tonight, Rodgers is expected to come under even more pressure and the Ajax boss is keeping a close eye on proceedings.

“At the end of the season he surely could,” Ronald said when asked if his brother could take over at Liverpool.

“It’s a nice club. If Liverpool ask now he would certainly think about it. He would certainly not close the door immediately, like he did two years ago.”

Meanwhile, Malaga have denied agreeing a deal with Liverpool for the £3m transfer of Mexican ‘keeper Guillermo Ochoa in January.
