Cadbury will be behind a specially branded Moro this year.

Cadbury will be behind a specially branded Moro this year.

While the GAA still have a long way to go to catch up with the likes of Manchester United (34 official sponsors listed on their site at the mo), the commercial arm of the Association is working hard to find new ways to bring in some extra revenue.

The Irish Times today spoke to Peter Mckenna, who outlined all sorts of new ventures including adding WiFi to Croke Park for fans as well as hunting for a new football sponsor to replace Ulster Bank.

However, the most headline-grabbing news is the fact that a new chocolate bar, called Moro GAA, will be launched in April. The bar, which we suspect is just going to be your regular Moro in a new wrapper, will also be the basis of some giveaways.

“Cadbury are conscious of not having consumptive prizes. So the prize would be, let’s say, Bernard Brogan to come and train your team.

“We are looking at combining a healthy endeavour with a treat,” McKenna is quoted as saying in the paper.

The bars, which will only be available in Musgrave shops (Supervalu, Centra and Superquinn), will hit the shelves before the Championship gets going in April.
