Gary Neville has really twisted the knife into Liverpool’s Champions League defeat

Paul Moore

Manchester United fans will be loving this.

Howler, clanger, ‘mare, disaster, shocker.

They’re all perfectly apt to describe Loris Karius’ evening for Liverpool as Real Madrid beat them 3-1 in Kiev.

Truth be told, the scenes as he left the pitch really said it all.

Regardless of which side you support, it’s hard not to feel for the Liverpool ‘keeper after his two catastrophic mistakes gifted Real Madrid their first and third goals in Kiev.

After Mo Salah left the pitch with a nasty shoulder injury, the momentum swung towards Real Madrid but they had a massive helping hand from the Liverpool ‘keeper.

This being said, Bale’s overhead was a strike that’s worthy of winning any final. On the other hand, Karius’ clangers were so bad that you wouldn’t even see them in an under-sevens match.

Anyway, Gary Neville was one of the millions of people that were glued to the events in Kiev and he couldn’t help but respond to a request from DJ Spoony.

A few days ago, he tweeted Neville to say : “If we (Liverpool) win 2moro you will get a text, video message, Whatsapp message and maybe a couple of dedicated tweets.”

Being a man of his word, the Manchester United icon responded by saying:

“They thought they’d conquered Europe, Celebrating six, Thank You Gareth Bale,  Made them look like D@@@@, The Twenty Sixth of May , Always in our heart , United won the Treble, The Scousers fell apart , Allez Allez Allez.”

Brutal.
