Gavin admits Cluxton had to go, but says ‘we all make mistakes’

No hard feelings in the Dubs camp.

Dublin manager Jim Gavin accepted that Stephen Cluxton deserved to be sent off in the National League draw with Mayo on Saturday night, but said, “we all make mistakes.”

Cluxton was dismissed after kicking out at Mayo’s Kevin McLaughlin in the 29th minute of the game.

Despite his absence, 14-man Dublin fought back with two goals from substitute Eoghan O’Gara and grabbed the draw.

“(McLoughlin) was in front of the ball but he tripped him and we can’t have any complaints with that,” said Gavin.

“I haven’t spoken to the player so I need to see what happens.

“Life is full of mistakes. We all make mistakes in life. The most important thing is to learn from them and to grow from them. That’s the way we’ll approach it.”
