The most shocking move of the transfer window so far…

It’s been 12 years since Paul Gascoigne played football at the highest level and since then he’s been in the news for off field controversy more than anything.

Gazza is still regarded as one of the most naturally gifted footballers England has ever produced and we’ll find out if he still has some of that magic in his boots because he’s set to make a return to the beautiful game.

Gascoigne is set to make his return after a local taxi driver, who was taking the former Lazio man to the shop for cigarettes, convinced Gazza to join his local Sunday League side Abbey FC.

Chris Foster who manages Abbey FC told the Bournemouth Daily Echo the story.

“I’ve picked him up a few times and spoken to him about signing for us. Although he laughed it off, he didn’t say no.

“I dropped him off at his flat a couple of weeks ago and he asked me to go to the shop to get him some cigarettes. When I got back, I was invited in and we had a good chat about various things.

“I gave him the cigarettes and pulled out the signing-on form at the same time. He signed it there and then. I was chuffed to bits and ran to the car as fast as I could. I was skipping like a 14-year-old! I texted some of the other lads and told them I had a real scoop of a signing. They thought it was either Taffy Richardson or Tommy Killick.”

News that Mario Balotelli (close to joining Liverpool) and Gazza are back playing football in England on the same day, what a time to be alive.
