Germany’s World Cup win completed an incredible five-fold bet that netted one punter almost €105,000

A season long bet landed last night, hitting Sky Bet for well over 100 grand.

At the start of the season, you often look at some of the odds on offer and think; I should be able to land a tasty accumulator here. So you throw in Celtic to win the Scottish title (obviously), Bayern to do the business in Germany and maybe Barcelona to win La Liga. And if you did that bet, you’d have gone wrong on the last leg. There is always one leg that lets you down.

But one unnamed UK punter placed a season long five-fold bet that looked really simple and it only went and landed at huge odds. For a  £100 bet (€125) has just won £83,000 (€104,133.31), with Germany completing the fifth and final leg last night in Rio.

None of the five bets came easy, so we can only imagine the season long stress this induced. City were very nearly beaten to top spot by Liverpool, QPR only gained promotion via a very dramatic play-off win over Derby and Real Madrid only won the Champions League after extra-time. Only Wolves did their bit with ease.

With four bets up, all the bet needed to land was a German win and after stuffing Brazil and seeing off Argentina, the win was confirmed late last night.

The Edinburgh-based gambler laid the bet in August 2013, so that was a very long, and ultimately rewarding, wait for the cash.
