GIF: Felipe Contepomi gets nailed with brutal hit in final game for Argentina
After picking himself up from this piece of brutality by Rob Simmons, the former Leinster man is probably looking forward to international retirement.
While all eyes were on the pretty special New Zealand victory over South Africa that clinched the Rugby Championship, the other game between Australia and Argentina in Rosaria fell through the cracks a bit.
It was an easy win for the Wallabies in the end, running in seven tries on the way to a 54-17 success. The visitors could even afford two yellow cards and this one, issued after a dangerous 'tackle' against a man very popular in Ireland, was most definitely merited.
After 50 minutes, a Pumas break from their own 22 saw Rob Simmons clout centre felipe Contepomi with a very dangerous hit. No ball, no attempt to tackle and a bit high, Simmons could have seen red in our opinion.
Luckily, Contepomi, earning his 87th and probably final cap for Argentina, was okay and played on, until he left the fray with 14 minutes remaining.
Enjoy your retirement Felipe…
